Movie review corrected

Reviewed by Francisco Javier Goffard

Trough time people have gone trough different stages and processes. Some of them have ment not only changes but also shurp pain. "Invictus" is a sports drama film that was released in 2009. It has a great cast that includes many film stars like Matt Damon (as Fraçois Pienar, captain of the "springboks") and Morgan Freeman (as South African President, Nelson Mandela). This movie was directed by Clint Eastwood and it is based on real facts taken from the history of South Africa and the book "Playing the enemy: Nelson Mandela and the game that changed a nation".

Firstly, the director used the sources because he wanted to portrait how team work can unite people no matter what, with fears or differences they had. The plot is about the facts that preced and followed the Rugby World Cup that was held in South Africa in 1995, all of them related to the end of the apartheid and the struggle agaisnt this system of segregation. Nelson Mandela was a South African leader that aseemed the presidency after being released from prision in 1990.

In addition, Mandela as a president had to face and solve many social problems and the message he shares is the decision he takes to support their national rugby team, the springboks, where most of the players were of a pale complexion, and he convinces the new authorities of South African Sports committe and comrade, represented mainly by black people, to help them too. Mandela joins them in a meeting and shows them that if they win, as a team, the whole nation will win, and with this aim they will inspire the rest of the people in other aspects of their lives too.

In conclusion, I recommend this film because it shows the reality that South Africa people lived at that time and how one man could foresight and use the good results of a team to reduce differences as well as social and ratial tensions that could generate a civil war. Once you are identified with the people of a nation, you become part and fight for it.
